Mt Field

We spent Thursday night up on Mt Field with my friend Jacqui and her family. Loren came with us too. We got there at about midday on Thursday. The wether wasn't good. We got an almost clear bit to walk from the car park, up the jeep trail to the ski huts. Jacqui and her family are members of the Mawson ski club, right next door to Oldina (where we were a couple of weekends ago). So we had my family (me, Rachel, Keziah, Rekekah and Mum - Dad came up for the night, but he still had to work), Jacqui's family (Jacqui, Bernard, Cathy and Rick - the people we go walking with) and Loren.

We played games all thurday afternoon, cause it just wasn't nice outside. We played Mafia, poker, Compadibility and Truth. We played a lot of Marfia and a lot of Truth (like truth or dare, but without the dares).

On friday we woke up to a beautiful morning!

The view from the Mawson veranda on Friday morning.

The Twins ready to go walking on Friday morning. We went up to the Lion's Den, a massive bolder field with lots of caves and passagewys between the rocks.

Of we go! Jacqui, Loren, Me (with the pack - Mum didn't want to carry it uphill) and Beck.

Us at the Lake Seal lookout. You should be able to work out who's who by now.

Beck relaxing in the Lion's Den while me and Jacqui and Loren and Bernard crawl through tiny gaps in the rocks.

The Twins went down to Tarn Shelf with mum before us. We were still too busy exploring. But the we had to go join them before they ate all our food!
You've got Jacqui in front, then Loren, then me, Rachel and Bernard.

Before we left the ski hut, Loren and I made a pact to go swimming, no matter how cold and miserable it was. And it was very cold and miserable. So cold and miserable that Bernard was questioning my sanity. He sould no by now that nothing gets inbetween Hannah and water! And Loren had never been swimming in a mountain tarn before, so I had to go with her, obviously!

Jumping in. The trick is not too think about it. As soon as you think about it, you start to think its not such a good idea. Loren made that mistake and took ages to get in. I didn't. Not this time! I've learnt that lesson before! Loren ended up half falling in, I did a graceful bomb with a massive splash! :-)

We then swam round to scare some old people with our freakish-ness. Bernard and jacqui followed us round the shore, demanding that we get out and put jackets on before we die of some horrible disease.
We didn't leave Mawson until it was dark. We just weren't in any hurry at all! Us kids played flags until it got too dark, and Mum and Cathy played Scrabble. Then we left - walking along the jeep trail by torchlight.
Loren, who's just started The Tomorrow Series, thought it was the coolest thing ever. She's never done any bushwalking or anything, and she kept saying how it all reminded her so much of the trips into Hell in the books. :-)

Mt Field

We spent last weekend on Mt Field, at the Oldina Ski Hut with a bunch of friends. There was us, the Dadswells and the Hatfields. The Dadswells have 2 kids, Ben, who's Ray's age, and Isi, who's the twin's age. The Hatfields also have two kids, Tess, who's my age, and Lachlen, who's Ray and Ben's age.

This is us. Keziah's on the left, followed by Ben and Lachlan. Rachel's behind them. Then Beck is sitting on me and Tess is being Sat on by Isi. It would probably be worthwile to work out who's who, othermise the rest of this post prob won't mean much.

We got up there Friday night. We all slept down stairs (us kids, that is). It was probably after midnight and we were all asleep. Well, everyone but Rachel. She got up and was walking up the stairs in the dark, on her way to the loo. Ben woke up and cause he's scared of the dark (even though he won't admit it) he had to turn on his torch and follow the unknown person up the stairs, all the while shouting at whoever it was and trying to figure out if they were real or not. He sais he was whispering, but it was definately shouting - he managed to wake just about everyone up, parents included. Anyway, he found out it was Ray and then they talked all the way back down the stairs, Ray whispering, Ben shouting. But By that time we were all awake anyway, so it was only moderately anoying.
Oh yeah, that last picture was of us girls out at a lookout we alked to on Saturday morning. There was no track, just a lot of bouldering :-) And Rachel's not there cause she spent the whole weekend with the guys. Typical Ray.

Here's us again. This is a really cute little tarn we wlked past on the way to the lookout.
On Saturday afternoon, Dennis (the guy who organises these trips to Mt Field) took all us kids (boys and ray included) and my parents (cause they wanted to come), out to Lake Rodway to stay the night. Its not far and it was really easy, but it was still fun. I walked for a bit with Tess and Isi, and then I walked for a bit with Ben and Lachlen and Ray, cause their pace is a lot more like mine. And I like boasting to ben about how I've done so much walking and he's hardly done any. :-)

At Lake Rodway I really wanted to go swimming. Isi and Ben and Lachlen all said they'd come with me, but Lachlen and Isi chickened out when they discovered just how cold the water was. Ben and I found a really good rock to jump off, out in the deeper water, so we soent a while doing bombs off that. Then the sun decided to disserpear behind the surrounding hills and we got out to stop ourselves freezing conpletely.

Sleeping arrangements that night caused a few arguements. Tess and Isi and I wanted to share a tent. Duh. We're good friends. And the twins were happy to be just the two of them , and the boys were just the two of them. But then Rachel seemed to think that suddenly she had some right to be in a tent with one of me or Tess or Isi. Which she didn't. You can't spend every waking hour hanging out with the guys and expect a warm welcome into our tent just cause suddenly you can't hang with the guys anymore.

Early (like 7am, early) on Sunday morning we climbed up the nearest ridge on the Rodway Ranges. Tess and Isi and everyone else didn't want to come right to the top, so it ended up being just me and the boys. And rachel didn't even come!

The view! Amazing, isn't it!

Me waiting patiently for everyone else to finnish using our stoves so we could use them to make our breakfast :-)

On the way back to the Oldina ski hut we stopped for another swim at one of the Tarns. Rachel and Keziah got in too, this time. And Lachy was going to (again) and chickened out (again)

Keziah swimming in the tarn. This tarn was a bit dissapointing, because it was way to shallow to bomb into. You could dive, but I look like such a retard diving that I didn't even bother trying.

Here we are frozen after our swim.

We left Oldina at about 3 in the afternoon. And then I had the swimming carnaval, and I've been asleep most of the week after that.

Holiday - 4th Phase

This phase of my holiday was spent at my friend Hayley's church camp. We did lots of cool stuff -
some with the group and some with a smaller group of her big brother and a few of his friends. With the whole youth group we went go-karting and mini golfing - aswell as all the devotions and stuff. Go-karting was the best! I love it! I went really fast and I lapped everyone but one person and I got a bit carried away trying to get infront of her - the only other person who was actually any good at it and then I accidentally rammed this girl who got in my way into a wall...not good. But no damage done! Everyone had just better watch out when I get in the drivers seat of a car...

We went to Tazmazia with Hayley's brother Eli and his gf and their cousens and a couple of other friends of his. I didn't get any photos cause I 4got to take my camera - but it was AWESOME! Its like ritchmond but TEN TIMES BETTER! There's a huge maze with this huge list of stuff to find in it and its full of signs with funny sayings and riddles and stuff on them. Then there's an adorable cubby-house-town which Hayz and I spent half an hour exploring and several smaller mazes aswel! I think you'd all love it and you gotta go there sometime if you havn't already been! :-)

What else dod we do? We went to the cheese factory for free cheese, the chocolate factory for free chocolate, the honey farm for, like, 50 DIFFERENT KINDS of free honey and the salmon farm for free salmon! None of these places cost to get in and there's so much free stuff! How come we don't have anything like that in Hobart? Its not fair! :-(

We went to a shop with 18 rooms! A shop you could very easily get lost on! A shop which seems to sell everything. Its called reliquare and its in Latrobe and its amazing...but I woudn't be able to do it justice so I won't even bother trying to describe the complete and utter wonder of it to you...except for one bit. Theres this platform in the middle of it - I think its ment to be the tardis of Dr Who - but its so cool! Your surrounded by mirrors and every direction you look - even down - all you can see is yourself reflected over and over and over again. It really freaky! And really cool!

Ok. Now for the only thing I got photos of. The youth had a disney themed dinner. So we all had to dress up as Disney character. Here's the photos!

Back row - left to right; Hayz bro Sam as Jaffar (the bad guy of Aladin), Hayz cousin as Louige (the chef of Rattoutuie), Hayz cousin Hannah and Poccahontis, Hayz cousin Amy as Snow white (no duh), Hayz cousin as Pop Eye, Eli's friend Nathanual as Captain Hook (complete with limp), Eli's gf Shana an Mulin, Eli (hayz bro) as General Shanks (the prince charming of Mulin). And then there's me and Hayley in the front!

Eli and Shana with Eli's awsome sword.

Me and Hayley - the good fairy and the bad fairy of Sleeping Beauty.

And finally, my favourite consume of the night - the candlesticks of Beauty and the Beast after they get turned back into humans! :-)

Holiday: phase three

Hi everyone! We had an awesome time at Fortescue Bay! Everyone who came down enjoyed themselves and the weather was nice to us (most of the time) :-)

Our set-up. Over the 13 days we were there we had a total of 26 visitors. 24 really, cause Loren's dad and bro don't count cause they were there for all of 15 minutes.

Our first visitors were the Greggs. That's Jordy (Ray's bf) and Ally (the twins bf) and their family. The whole family came down for a day on the 5th (our first full day) and Jordy and Ally stayed for two nights. They got collected on the 7th.

BTW - dosen't it confuse you how bf can mean boyfriend and best friend???

We took Jordy and Ally snorkling at Canoe Bay. (the ship wreck in the photo) Its really cool cause its surrounded by weed and then theres a hole in the front of it which is full of really pretty little fish in layers as you look down! :-)

Unfortunately, the water there was really cold so it took you at least 15 min after u got uot for you 2 warm up! So Rachel and Jordy helped each other warm up.

Me and Kez and Ally on the shipwreck. The days whith Jordy and Ally seemed 2 drag on forever. Well, for me they did. Cause I was a loner. And I really really really hate bein a loner. I didn't have recption either - so I couldn't complain to any one who might actually care.

The twins and Ally. Here's something that might interest u - Jordy's got a new nick name - FIDO! Cause he follows Rachel round like a perfectly well trained little puppy dog.

The day the Greggs left the Morley's came. score to me! I now had friends and Rachel didn't. Infact Jordy was the only friend Rachel had for the intire time!

The Morleys came down on their birthdays too. Sam's birthday was on the day they came down and Ollie's was the next day.

James eating a Jaffle. Thats what we call fire-toasted sandwitches. We made lots of jaffels while we were there. I even got one nearly perfect - nicely brown, no black.

Right when the Morleys were leaving the Muggeridges (thats not spelled right) arrived. They stayed for one night but they didn't leave till half past ten at night. Oh yeah - the Morleys stayed for two nights. I don't think I told you that yet!

So the Muggs arrived on the Staurday. My friend Loren came Sunday morning and the Kerrisons came Sunday arvo.

Family photo - us and the Kerrisons. The Kerrisons stayed two nights - they left on Tuesday.

Jacqui. She and her mum came down on Monday and her Mum left on Wednesday but Jacqui stayed for the rest of the time.

Loren also stayed with us for the rest of the time.

As you can see we spent a lot of time playing games. Even on nice days, which confuses me. The only days I didn't play a lot of games was when James was there cause he hates them cause he's bad at them.

More games. Except this time the weather was bad so I didn't mind.

Ok, so thats the people who were there. Now I have to tell you what we did! And we did lots! We went round to canoe bay twice more after the Greggs left; we took the Morley's over in the boat and I kayaked round with Loren and Jacqui. We snorkled everytime we went.

The ski Biscuit. I spent so much time on this thing its not funny. We had it out a total of 7 times and I went on it several times everytime we had it out. So thats a lot of time on the biscuit.
I rode it forwards (normal), backwards and laying down. I layed down on it on the last day the Morleys were there cause I hadn't fallen out yet and I thought I'd have a better chance of achieving that if I layed down. So I did. But I asked Dad to be nice to me, at least to start with. So what did he do??? He gave the motor to James. James! James who hasn't ever driven a boat that powerful before. James who would enjoy tipping me out. I was freaked. I was really freaked. But I stayed on. He went fast and he went around sharp corners but he didn't do both at once which was nice of him. But I didn't manage 2 suceed in falling out.

The day after the Morley's left - the day Loren arrived - I did manage to fall out. Twice. I was sitting normally and holding on and everything but I managed to come of. It didn't hurt - but aparently it looked pretty specky. I fell of every day after that. It was as if falling out once had jinxed me.

We did a lot of animal watchin too. There's a penguin rookery about half an hour away from the campsite and we took people around there three times to watch the parents climb up the rocks to their chicks. Its so cute cause they're always stumbling and falling over. But sometimes it takes a while for them to start coming out of the water so waiting for them gets a bit boring. The first time we went just with the Morley's. James and I watched the stars come out and had a competition to see who could spot them first. I won. :-) We also went down with the Kerrisons' the Mudgridges and Loren (all and once) and again with Loren and Jacqui and Jacqui's mum.
And that's a photo of a seal, not a penguin. we didn't have any penguin photos.

Thats a seal again. We found a colony of seals in the boat and went snorkling with them. Well, me and Loren and Jacqui and Dad did. NO-one else wanted to come and Rachel just stayed in the boat cause she was scared of the cold water and the jellyfish. Seals are the most amazing animals! The have such huge eyes and they swim round you and look at you and do there hand-stand thingys. And they swim so fast! And they come so close to you! Loren and I both touched them.

I went swimming at lease once every day, so here's a photo of us on the beach to finish with! I hope you have enjoyed all the pics of the third phase of our holiday!!!

Ben and Bec and Mike and Gabi are coming down for a night or two, Ray's Boyfriend's family is coming down for a night, the Morleys' are coming down for a few nights, Loren is gonna come down for a whole six days and Jacqui might even get down for a while! Its gonna be so cool!

Dad's taking the boat and the ski biscuit and the kiachs and the boogie boards and the skin boards! And even better - the weather forcast makes it look like we'er gonna need them all day everyday! 10 days on the beach...thats my kind of holiday! :-)
