Thats the Junior Concert Band and the Junior Stage Band, btw.
So we went to Howrah and we played to all the little kids. We left school straight after homegroup (so we didn't have to go to maths), then came back at lunch (so we also missed science and indor wellbeing).
I don't reckon you really care what classes I was lucky enough to miss, (though you probably don't care about any of this at all), so I'll continue to what we did at Howrah. We walked there from Clarence, which took about 20min, then we ahd to set up. We practiced for the next hour and a bit, then we got a break. Our break was in Howrah's recess, so I went and found the twins. (Jacqui and Hayley and Loren came with me.) Kez launched herself at me when she saw me coming. She ran across one and a half netbal courts just for a hug. Beck was wierd though. She was sitting under a tree eating, not running around playing netbal with Kez and all their friends. I sorta don't like that, seeing my littelest sister sitting out like a loner. But I know she has friends, because when they were writting down lists of friends to be on netbal teams with in the after-school roster; two of them put down her name. So yeah, that was kinda wierd.
But then she came over and stole the truffle I was eating and ran away with it and I figured I would just not worry about her loner-ish-nes.
At quaterpast 11, the band went back and sat down to watch all the kids arriving then we played at halfpast. The programe was...
- The concer band played the Muppets Theme
- The concert band played a piece called Festivo Fantastico
- My flute quartet (with six people) played Eye of the Tiger without stuffing up
- The clarienets played Pink Panther
- Kelsey played a solo on Bass Clarienet
- Carmeliana played Hot Cross Buns on oboe
- The concert band played a piece called Woodland Overture (which is really pretty and the flutes get lots of tune)
- Jacqui played James Bond on alto sax
- Thomas played Star Wars on tenor sax
- Seb played some wierd thing on barry sax
- As you have probably noticed, we demonstraight all the instruments to the kids.
- The concert band played Conundrum, which Simon reckons we might win the Hobart Estedfors with.
- Loren played In the Jungle on Trumpet
- Nicole played music from Lord of the Rings on french horn
- The concert band played Jazz Band Blues, and we managed to get nearly our whole audience to click in time
- The concer band played Croccodile Rock and Sam got all the kids to clap along
- The concert band swapped to the stage band
- The stage band played Rock the House with the kids clapping along
- The stage band played Break
- Sam got to show of his valve trombone (which is like a cross between a Trumpet and a trombone)
- Hayley and I did a slidy-thing on Trombone and Simon made fun of us to all the little kids cause we're flute players pretending to play trombone
- The stage band played Stand by Me
- The stage band ended the cancert by playing Louie Louie
You are probably very glad that the concert ended at last because you are probably very sick of reading this post. I was glad the concert had ended because I was running out of breath. And I'm sorta glad this post has ended cause now I have to go get braces.
I didn't know you were getting braces!?!
ReplyDeleteHope its not too painful.
Bravo! for the concert. On a more personal note, may I ask who the arrangers/composers of your music were?
ReplyDelete(The Junior band at Mike's music camp played two pieces by my dad and I was wondering if your band still used his stuff too...)
Our training band still uses tones of his stuff, but he didn't write any of our current Junior Band pieces.
ReplyDeleteLast years training band played about 5 or so pieces by him!
I'd have to go look to tell you exactly who the arrangers/compossers were, and I don't feel like moving right now.
And Emma, why was i having teeth pulled out if I wasn't for my braces???
ReplyDeleteAuntie Beck,
ReplyDeleteToday I photocopied my senior band music and guess what??? We have a piece by R.T.Honeyman!
its called A Musical Fairytail and its very...interesting. Its hand written and hard to read but once we get the hang of it, the piece should sound fairly cool.
hmm ... sounds fun!
